A small group leader’s favorite things
(to the tune of “My Favorite Things”)
Snacks that are tasty and kids that are winsome
Singable songs that are thoughtful (and then some)
Subtle transitions right after we sing
These are a few of my favorite things
Early arrivals and pleasant surprises
Families at peace in a year without crisis
Kid-friendly houses with basement and swings,
These are a few of my favorite things
When the kids wail,
When the snack’s stale
When we sing too high
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I can still get by
Cream for the coffee and crystal clear schedules
Volunteer childcare for holiday revels
Airborne contagions that nobody brings
These are a few of my favorite things
Punctual members and nice back porch weather
Game nights and campsites and beach trips together
Honest discussions about anything
These are a few of my favorite things
When the phone rings while we’re praying
When folks stay too late
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I can still feel great

We may observe then, in the first place, that our educational system has always been the object of strong adverse criticism. No one has ever been especially well satisfied with it, or well pleased with the way it worked; no one, I mean, whose opinion was at the same time informed and disinterested, and therefore worth attention.

This struck me as a tad shortsighted on the chief priests’ part…
When the large crowd of the Jews learned that Jesus was there, they came, not only on account of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to put Lazarus to death as well, because on account of him many of the Jews were going away and believing in Jesus. John 12:9-11 (ESV)
